Eric is a Certified Public Accountant, licensed in Florida since 1993. His more than 25 years of experience include auditing, controllership (both public and private companies), tax consulting & tax planning as well as holding managerial positions with public companies such as Florida Power & Light, Tyco International Ltd, BE Aerospace and Office Depot.
He began his career with Ernst & Young LLP as an auditor in the West Palm Beach office and thereafter transitioned into taxation, specializing in corporate, Federal, State and local taxation as well as tax accounting for large publicly traded companies.
After leaving corporate accounting, Eric worked as a tax manager for Caler, Donten, Levine, Porter & Veil in West Palm Beach. His tenure included working with high-net worth individuals on trust, estate and gift taxation as well as family office consultation. He also consulted for non- profit organizations with tax planning formation and compliance issues.
Today, Eric is the sole shareholder and President of Eric J Cohen CPA, P.A., primarily servicing small to medium sized businesses with tax planning and compliance. He specializes in international taxation and has clients with residences from all over the world, assisting individuals with investor visa requirements. He also assists individuals with corporate formation and organization. He is instrumental in financial planning for his clients and recommending course of action to obtain individual financial goals.
He holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Accounting from the University of Florida, 1991 and a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A) in Computer Information Systems from Florida Atlantic University, 1992.
He is a member of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
